.....10 are said to have been made, and the diff is a Quaife 3.8:1 LSD. Quick release Group 2 half-shafts, rated at over 200 bhp, are the final link to the works alloy hubs. Hanging onto the hubs for dear life is a set of genuine works magnesium Group 2 centre lock rims. Gordon has another couple of sets with slick tyres, but these are running super-soft Yokohama A032R tarmac rubber.

As with all proper race cars, the suspension is fully rose-jointed, poly-bushed and totally adjustable. The rear suspension cross-member corrects the Group 2 spec and has been widened an extra 4 inches. Bilstein coil-over shocks with 300 Ib springs are matched to a huge set of vented discs and AP Racing callipers at the front. At the rear, AVA coil-overs, 400 Ib springs, smaller AP Racing discs and two-pot alloy callipers take care of business. Inside, a works adjustable brake bias pedal box is perfectly complemented by the hydraulic handbrake system.

Inside the cabin you'll notice the works dash and the huge dominating red lights that indicate fan operation and oil pressure loss. Keeping Gordon informed is a Stax 3.5 inch tacho which triggers a Microdynamics shift light. "I love the way the engine fires the needle on the tacho," smiles Gordon, "it's cool to see it go so fast. Luckily the shift light flashes at me to change gear." A pair of Sparco bucket seats and Luke harnesses hug the occupants snugly, and a works steering wheel helps keep the Mkl pointed in the right direction. Gordon refitted the original six-point roll cage, and has fitted a Fire-eater extinguisher to the passenger side footwell.

The rear Kevlar hatch hides a big alloy fuel cell which is drained by a pair of electric pumps. Braided fuel lines take the juice to the front of the car, and lifting off the hinge-less fibreglass bonnet reveals a textbook.....
